Pink Floyd Star's Son Held Over Student Protest

Charles Gilmour. (Roger Waters must be turning in his grave ... no hang on, he's still alive)

Police arrested the son of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour on Sunday after he was photographed climbing a war memorial during violent student protests.

THE NUS state categorically that these off-shot demos were not NUS organised.

Pictures of 21-year-old Charlie Gilmour swinging from the national flag on the Cenotaph ran in many British newspapers.

Police said a 21-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of violent disorder, theft and "attempted criminal damage of the Union flag on the Cenotaph."

The arrest took place in Sussex, where Gilmour lives.

British police do not usually name suspects until they are charged.

Cambridge University student Gilmour issued a public apology Friday, saying he felt "nothing but shame" for his behavior.

I wonder if his Dad can handle it ... ?

Our Personal Two-Tenners contact, at Friday's demos, reports that to avoid the sounding of 'The Division Bell', Young Gilmour Text messaged his Dad after the event and attempted to put this 'Momentary lapse of reason' down to the influence of 'The Dark Side ...', adding as an afterthought 'Wish you were Here' as he signed off.

His Father, legendary Guitarist with the Floyd told the press that his son's motives were 'Obscured by Clouds' and told us he was taking his family out of the spotlight for a few days and away for a holiday 'On an Island', until things cooled. [humour]

Gilmour Remembers well the story his old mate Roger Waters told him regarding the meaning of the lyrics to 'Us and Them' from the Dark Side of the Moon, a tip of the old hat to Veterans of Previous Wars who ran out of bullets on the Battlefield, and Gilmour consistently holds that it is not his duty to deny his son the right to 'Meddle' in Politics.

Gilmour added that he didn't want the incident at the Cenotaph to become yet another 'Brick in The Wall' further spoiling or jarring his already Oedipal relationship with his very attractive Stepmother....!

Charlie Gilmour when asked to comment on Police behaviour at the Student Demonstrations on Fridday would add only one comment '... Animals ....' he said.!

Can't argue with that ....
