First, the First Amendment: freedom of speech, and of the press, and of the right peaceably to assemble, and to petition government for the redress of grievances, without establishment of religion, or prohibition of the free exercise thereof, is at the very heart of what it means to be a free person.  In other words, every human is endowed with the freedom to know himself, to be himself, and to express himself.  I am a firm believer in the idea that the only cure for bad free speech is good free speech.  The ACLU has it exactly right on this point!

Second, the idea that the government is capable of committing treason may seem bizarre within the context of a monarchy, but, within the context of a republic which recognizes the sovereignty of the common man, state repression aimed at the common man constitutes rebellion against the sovereign, which is the very definition of treason.  All the more so when the Federal government, a creature of the several States, seeks to subvert the power of the several States, via such means as the 10 FEMA districts which seek to supplant the authority of the several States which created the US Federal government and which constitute her sole source of legitimacy (did you watch Jesse Ventura's "Police State" episode as I suggested?) by means of subdivisions created by the Federal government.  Not to mention the very statutory definition of treason, which primarily concerns the waging of war against the US, or the provision of material aid and comfort to the enemies thereof.  If 9/11 didn't constitute the waging of war against the US, what does?  If giving a State Department diplomatic escort to the Christmas Day Underpants Bomber exempting him, and him alone, from Dutch airport security and allowing him to be seated aboard a Detroit-bound airliner without a passport, despite the urgent warnings of the bomber's own father to US authorities, doesn't constitute the waging of war against the American people (i.e., the sovereign), what does?  Yes, the US Federal government is not only capable of committing treason, it has, in fact, done so, repeatedly.  Jane Fonda's photo-op sitting upon a piece of North Vietnamese flak artillery seems, to me, to be very small potatoes compared to the treasonable antics of the US Federal government against her own sovereign: the American people.

Please forgive me for having unfairly stereotyped you as a typical member of your generation, but, you must admit that the silence of your Silent Generation left my generation, as well as the generation between us, seriously behind the 8-ball when it came to confronting the institutions dominating US society now and then.  One of my favorite slogans just happens to be: "Silence is Complicity!".  If you see something wrong, SCREAM!

Finally, concerning your string bikini statement, what's to prevent the TSA from claiming that, if you're really not an Arab terrorist, what have you to hide?  In order to truly satisfy the US government's claim to total transparency on the part of her people towards her (in contrast to the massive claimed need for governmental privacy versus the American people) you not only need to stroll through the airport wearing just what you were born with, but you must further submit, not only to a "pat-down", but to a gynecological and proctological exam to ensure that you don't have explosive breast implants or a bomb hidden inside your ladyhood or your tooshie!

What I'm really trying to say here is that there's never going to be an enemy capable of hurting you and yours quite like your own government.  Which is precisely why the US Constitution was written the way it was, by people who faced the very same threats that we're facing right now.
