I've often noticed that web searches on my part are often reflected in the advertisements that pop up in the heading of this forum, like the time I was researching an industrial-scale bread-dough mixer, and an advertisement for precisely the mixer I was most interested in appeared in the heading of this forum.  (I'm assuming that other forum participants get their particular interests advertised to them in the same manner.)

Well, someone's noticed that I spend a lot of time on Canadian sites, which is probably what prompted my receipt of this advertisement:

It sounds like a good idea (unless you're a crap driver), but is it another Big Brother tracking mechanism like Onstar, or does it just record physical phenomena affecting your own car, without revealing one's absolute position on the globe?
