In 2002 a new set of voluntary guidelines from the trade group representing leading prescription drug and biotech firms sought to curb generous gifts to physicians from the industry. As former pharm insider most companies signed on but a few did not.
Acceptable items included Pens, notepads, office items and modest education meals under $25.
Sure pharm reps try to sway decisions company quotas to meet or exceed and their rewards big bonuses, trips, etc.
