IRISH GOVERNMENT CAUGHT MANIPULATING GARDASIL STATISTICS TO HIDE DANGER: Irish mothers scramble to limit damage by giving accurate information

Irish mothers have started a campaign to give accurate information about the risks associated with the Gardasil cervical cancer vaccine after it emerged that the  government has manipulated statistics to suggest that the vaccine is far more effective than science shows.

The Irish government is about to roll out another Gardasil vaccine programme targeting 12-year-old school girls in spite of growing evidence of damage.

Dr Diane Harper, the leading researcher in the development of Gardasil cervical, recently called the jab a “public health experiment”, and said parents should be made aware of the serious adverse events associated with its use, including death.

According to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, there have been 77 deaths linked to Gardasil. There have been 18,461 reports of adverse events as of September 2010.

In response to the evidence of damage, the Irish government and regulators have apparently made up fictitious statistics to conceal the risks, and to suggest a far higher rate of effectiveness for the vaccine than scientific studies give.

Fine Gael health spokesperson Dr James Reilly claimed that the vaccine will save 52 deaths from cervical cancer a year, but it the claim of a 56% reduction in cervival cancer deaths a year  has absolutely no basis in the scientific evidence, as a study from Austria shows.

Reilly stated that “Health Information and Quality Authority…say very clearly that:  Out of 93 deaths per year – 52 Deaths will be averted:”

A closer look at the figures that the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) uses to justify its claims reveals the extent of the manipulation to obscure the scientific evidence, document a Gardasil awareness citizen’s group.

A study in Austria published this year  in the Journal of Public Health looked at the expected reduction of cancer deaths in the event of mass vaccination of 12 year old girls with Gardasil, and concluded that vaccination with Gardasil would result in an average reduction of 10% fewer new cancer cases in the next 50 years or until 2060 under “best case assumptions”.

“Compared to screening only, screening plus vaccination of 12-year-old girls (and boys) would result in a median reduction of 10% (15%) fewer new cancer cases and 13% (20%) fewer cervical cancer deaths under best case assumptions over 52 years in the overall female population,” states the study by Ingrid Zechmeister, Birgitte Freiesleben de Blasio and Geoff Garnett

“….a population-wide HPV vaccination program in Austria, the reduction predicted by this model is lower than expected from clinical trials.”

The HIAQ was set up to act as an independent authority in May 2007  reporting to the Irish Minister of Health, “to inform and assist decision-making“, and provide a “stamp of assurance for the public and the taxpayers’ that the highest possible standards.. are adopted”  but is failing in its legal obligation to give accurate information by huge exaggerating the effectiveness of vaccines after manipulating figures.

When parents wrote to politicians and gave them the evidence that HIAQ is systematically misinforming the public about Gardasil, they received no reply.

The parents have now launched a campaign to spread the information, and are asking others to help inform the public about the risks of the cervical jab by sending out emails, using facebook, printing flyers and posting up reports.

That Irish politicians and government regulators appear to be acting like sales departments of pharmaceutical companies n  promoting Gardasil is bound to raise the issue of potential conflicts of interest.

Finland’s justice ministry has been reported by local media to have opened an investigation in August into the equivalent body as well as into health ministry officials after allegations were made that they took bribes in connection with their recommendations for GSK’s Pandemrix swine flu jab.

Finland also suspended the swine flu vaccination campaign in August because of the evidence that it caused neurological damage. Sweden has also opened an investigation in the damage caused by the jab.

In a landmark case, a UK court in August awarded a family 90,000 UKP for severe damage caused to their child by the MMR vaccine 18 years earlier.

Under pressure from experts with links to pharmaceutical companies, WHO was found to have manipulated the criteria for declaring a pandemic level emergency 6 to justify a mass vaccination campaign with the swine flu jab, as detailed by UK MP Paul Flynn in his report for the Council of Europe.

Is it acceptable that the Irish government is pushing on children a potentially damaging vaccine while giving them inaccurate information, and no investigation into conflict of interests is planned?

Is it acceptable that it is left to concerned citizens to scramble to try to limit the damage by giving factual information to parents when even Dr Diane Harper warned that accurate information was required?

No inquiry into financial and personnel links between politicians such as Dr James Reilly  in connection with Gardasil or the swine flu jab has so far been launched in spite of the urgent need.

As the Irish Examiner noted:

“Meanwhile, an investigation by the British Medical Journal and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism found a trio of scientists who drew up the key World Health Organisation guidelines had previously received payment for other work from Roche, which makes Tamiflu, and Relenza manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline.

The British Medical Journal said the scientists had openly declared these interests in other publications, yet WHO made no mention of the links.

The report estimates that the drugs giants banked more than €5 billion as a result of the WHO recommendations.

A report from the Council of Europe has criticised the lack of transparency around the handling of the swine flu pandemic.
