'The EU wants to put a stop to tracking cookies logging a user's activity without their knowledge

Friday marks the last working day for UK businesses to prepare their websites for a new law governing the use of cookies.

From Sunday, sites must obtain "informed consent" from visitors before saving cookies on a machine

Whilst the US Washington Post in 2009 pointed out that 633,000 'Fusion-Centre' workers and other have direct access to an ISP provided (pre-legality, post-accountibility already then) entire list of all the sites and content you visit on your computer, The Much Valued 'Information Commissioners Office' (ICO) in the UK has been used as the staging post for a mandatory, (yet wholly cosmetic) roll-out of an opt-out option for Cookies recorded on and reading from - YOUR computer's Hard-Drive(s).

The BBC reckons that most sites won't be ready for the little announced changeover and hence will be breking some previously unmentioned new LAW.

Will this be used as a 'STEPPING-STONE' towards a response by the EU or other controlled Government to push for Web-II [Internet-2), - the on the contrary much talked about and to be much regulated, bandwidth nominated per order of 'priority' or acceptibility system?

Didn't see the Stumbling Block? Tough, the government supports The Putting of Missile Launchers on civvie rooftops around the Olympiad Stadium to fight off incoming Al'Cu'koo airborne/seaborne terrorist attacks.
Your indefatigable TV begat wisdom knows that 'Tree-Monkey' beats 'Ground-Monkey', then runs away and hides in Tree.
— And therefore you probably also believe that to do so is somehow sexy!?

— So what in the Name of all that's wholesome and fruity, - do you expect! ?
