Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich went all out yesterday in the race to win the Florida Republican primary, promising Floridians that as President he would deliver a permanent lunar colony within 8 years. Naturally, big government hating, NASA-loving Floridians went bonkers for it.

But I reckon I can do better at distracting the human race from the troubles at home  FAR FAR BETTER.

The Enigma who is British Astronomer Patrick Moore, star-gazing chum to Brian May of Queen, stated:
"It Does indeed seem there was once a great deal of water on Mars".

But the trouble is Patrick, you will neither get elected as President, nor acrete huge corporate backing for Space Exploration on a mandate of sinking water wells tens of millions of miles from home.

These mere romantic notions aside, there have to be motives.
NASA & Big Business / Government must be made to believe there will be long-term economic gains.

On the moon these incentives include the already mapped large deposits of Titanium ore.
And, on MARS, we see that near the surface are huge quantities of Gem-Stone Olivine & other rare metals.

On Mars, the green mineral rock 'Olivine' has been discovered in great predominance in the Southern Martian hemisphere. Olivine is formed inside lava at great depths & at great temperatures.

The Morale of this tale of scientific exploration is: Don't limit your vision to ridiculing the whole issue of predatorial human morons seeding chaos in near space. Let us reach for the full headache and take our vision of an 'Earth Economy First', and a Militarized Moon / Mars Mining facility straight out to the front pages, so we can get on with the immediate business of fixing the budget deficit.

A fantastic proposition: Synthesising an atmosphere for Mars.

And remember:
"Glaring into space without Dark Goggles can seriously damage your pea-sized view of the universe."
