The only good that could even vaguely feasibly come out of MainStream Playing of Humanity off against itself, (
who'd have thought¡), in this Pseudo Star-Trek Pre-Christmas Extravaganza, and in my wildest dreams, are the suggestions that before we go to another world, the British should revert to Pre-Decimalistion currency: Euro Demicalisation was foistered upon this Fayre Isle in ~1970. Our previous currency was based not on the decimal 10 but rather on #12. Twelve can be divided by 2, 3,4 & 6, and presents a massive mathematical advantage in non-simplification. Accordingly our old money, (I used to use it for most of my youth) used three-penny, six-penny, 12-penny (1-shilling), Half-Crowns, Crowns, (
6-shillings and 12-shillings perhaps?·¿) 20 shillings - (£1). Then there were the big old Brass-Pennies about 1½" across, ½-pennies, and farthings ¼- pennies.
It was a rich and varied, if somewhat daunting currency system. But at age 6-16 or whatever, I go by perfectly well. As long as you can do the math, humans can adapt to any such change. Right now, looking at our 'Golden-Past' through my classic-style Rose-Tinted sunglasses, I'd prefer to revert to the old system and then leave for the New Kepler-22 Solar System.
