I watched "ABC News Nightline" tonight, and someone made the point that US military assistance to Japan in her current crisis might prove to be valuable PR for the US military presence in Japan, which presence has been the subject of considerable controversy in Japan lately.
Now, don't get me wrong: I'm definitely no imperialist, and I energetically second Ron Paul's call to bring ALL the troops back home. But it seems to me that if Japan would rather not be under foreign occupation, she shouldn't have launched an aggressive war on September 17th, 1931, and kept it going for almost fourteen years.
This observation also contains a lesson for the American people, who are currently living in the most militaristic and aggressive society in history, and have proven themselves absolutely tolerant of this situation as long as they have a steady supply of cheap motor fuel, and plenty of money to waste at the local mall.

Here's a great song about the current condition of US society and morality:

Are you taking over? Or are you taking orders? I ain't going backwards! We're going only forwards!
