Step up Nicholas White, press officer for some of our fave cops - the National Extremism Tactical Coordination Unit a.k.a NETCU. He was found guilty in Cambridge Crown Court last Friday (27th) of possession of more than 110,000 photographs and videos of child p·o·r·n.

Ironically despite being a specialist surveillance unit nobody at NETCU noticed Nicholas's unusual hobby. Too busy keeping an eye on 'domestic extremists' no doubt. Anyway despite the mountain of evidence, the NETCU Nonce was allowed to walk out of court a free man, for now at least, with the judge only saying that “all options, including custody” are open. His lawyer, Nerida Harford-Bell, mitigating, said her client was so full of self-loathing he had referred himself to a doctor. He was also described as “very isolated” and with a history of self harm. Must have fitted right in then!

For those who aren't so clear on what NETCU is, see here, here, and here for starters (and then just search the rest of our archive), as well as, of course, NETCU Watch, for a shedload more dirt on the sinister police spy agency. As we said a few years back - NETCU was essentially set up to protect corporations from increasingly effective animal rights campaigns such as SHAC. It monitors the policing of animal rights activists and other political movements; follows prosecutions through the courts and cultivates informants. Animal rights campaigners have been targeted with increasingly repressive new legislation in a series of show trials against the SHAC campaign and Stop Sequani Animal Torture (SSAT).

No doubt these revelations will do little to derail  NETCU's political surveillance operation. What is clear however, is that the same system that's happy to see 4 year prison terms doled out to teenagers caught bulls·h·i·t·ting on Facebook is treating Mr White very leniently indeed. After he quit his 'police worker' (OK, technically, not a police officer, but still cop enough for SchNEWS) job following his arrest he was allowed to step sideways into a cushy role as press officer for the Royal Society for Chemistry (he was sacked from the Royal Society after the verdict though). You'd imagine that you'd need a pretty good reference from your former employer to land a job like that, and it looks like NETCU did what they could to look after one of their own. But then what would you expect from what is effectively the spy arm of the exclusive club of Britains' senior coppers?

Nicholas White, of Royston, a press officer for the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), pleaded guilty to 22 counts of making and possessing indecent images of children at Cambridge Crown Court.

The 27-year-old was caught with 102 level five images of children - the most depraved category.

Officers also uncovered more than 3,000 other ****ographic images of under 16s on an external hard drive during the search on January 18, 2011.

White was also found to be in possession of a total of 781 ****ographic movies featuring children - nine of which were rated level five.

He also pleaded guilty to a possession of ten images depicting bestiality.

Nerida Harford-Bell, mitigating, said her client was so full of self-loathing he had referred himself to a doctor.

She said: “This man is very isolated and in this isolation this addiction has grown since his mid-teens.”

Judge Gareth Hawkesworth added: “For so young an age I regard a full psychiatric report to be absolutely essential.”

In total White was found to be in possession of 110,510 images of children and 781 videos.

The court was told White had a history of self harm.

He was ordered to sign the sex offenders register and the case was adjourned for sentencing on the week commencing March 12.

His bail was extended on the condition that he refrain from contact with minors except for in the presence of their parents and continued to not access the internet or any other file sharing programme.

A bail extention was granted on the condition he refrain from contact with minors except for in the presence of their parents and continued to not access the internet or any other file sharing programme.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary confirmed he had been hired by the force in June 2008, carrying out work for ACPO until his resignation on February 24 2011.

The force said White’s resignation as a communications officer came after his arrest and suspension a month earlier.

A police spokesman said: “All applications for employment with the constabulary are subject to rigorous checks and vetting, including the examination of criminal records and employment history.

“Any allegations against employees are fully investigated and disciplinary action and, if necessary, criminal proceedings will be instigated if appropriate.”

White’s role with the force was as a communications officer for a unit called the National Extremism Tactical Coordination Unit (or NETCU).

Following his guilty plea yesterday White was sacked from his current job as a press officer at the Royal Society of Chemistry, he had been working in the post since last April, after leaving his position at ACPO.

Hypothesis:

Could it be that this high-level access Government Intel Press Officer had been acquiring these images with the intent of hacking into 'Activist' +/or 'Extremist' websites and home computers with the intent of leaving a trail of alleged CP·O·R·N offences which could be supposedly then "traced back to individuals" maintaining +/or visiting these sites?

— Could it have been part of a inside job CORRUPT plan to allege that 'activists' in the UK were involved in a CP·O·R·N rings?
